#18 Walk more

So what we see as we explore easy yet powerful health tips is this close connection between feeling better and the health of our planet. What makes us feel good can help our our planet feel good too.

Our third healthy tip for the new year is to drive a little less and walk more. Movement and exercise is vital for a long and happy life, but it can be expensive and hard to plan.

Walking comes for free— if you choose to walk instead of driving for your shorter journeys, it's saving you money and chipping away yet more at fossil production. Less carbon and more health.

Walking is great for your mind

Walking is an excellent booster for your mood. Are you a creator or innovator? It's well known that people have their best ideas on the move (fact). If you want to solve a problem, get out and walk. Or take the time to talk—meetings and conversations on the move v help break ice and resolve disputes.

How far is enough?

The best advice is to walk until you get to your destination! Doesn't mean you shouldn't stop on the way. There's no real limit to how much the human body can walk. For health benefits though, you won't need a lengthy hike.

Although the figure of 10,000 steps was famously made up for a marketing campaign, it's about right—ten thousand steps a day will keep your body and mind healthy and have only a positive impact on our planet.

So whenever you can, get out and walk.

Walk wisely

We're here to give you inspiration about how to have a healthier and more prosperous future. If you have any health conditions or concerns, or live with younger and older people, do check with a doctor starting a new exercise plan.

It's a long journey

The more we act, the more we share, the more we have a movement towards a healthier, safer, more prosperous future for us all.
